Smart women shouldn't settle for dumb men
I have a friend that's smart as a whip, pretty, has a great sense of humor and...she's also still single. She dates often, but she has gotten tired of the first-date, the blind-date, the web-date--basically all kinds of dates.
She always says things like, "I've had it with dating I just want to get it over with and find the one… even if he makes less money or he's Republican."
I know that as time goes by, her expectations are getting lower. Next month she'll be saying, "I don't care if he's stupid."
And that scares the sh*t out of me.
I have another friend who is a career woman, attractive, stylish, quite smart, and a very hard-worker with three kids who had the same issue a year ago. She was tired of dating and she recently told me that she had found a good man.
"A good man?" I asked.
"It's not like I'm crazy in love but he treats me so well and surrounds me with gifts and it's been a long time since someone wanted to take care of me," she responded.
"So?" I asked.
"He's definitely not funny and I think his jokes are stupid," she sighed.
In truth, there are millions of women like her, putting up with men that make stupid jokes. It's amazing, but smart women around me seem to have forgotten finding love will always be more difficult for them. Why? Because they are smart.
It's probably easier to find love when you're dumb. Your expectations are much lower and you can find a dumb man as easy as 1-2-3. They are everywhere.
In my opinion, a lot of men don't really like smart women. They don't want to struggle. They would rather have a simpler relationship. I'm actually convinced that no man can be totally happy when his wife or partner is prettier, more talented, smarter, and/or makes more money than him.
The problem with my friends is that during the beginning of the relationship they can pretend it's all really wonderful, but over time, no amount of gifts, attentions or even sex, will be enough. One of these days when this man is sitting by her side at a party, making his terrible jokes, she'll want to jump out a window because no one wants to be stuck with a boring or a dumb man.
I don't care how lonely it gets.
Do you know someone who "settled" in their relationship?
