Jonathan Law HS stabber murders Latina teen who refused prom invite

A rejected Connecticut teenage boy killed his 16-year-old ex-girlfriend at Jonathan Law High School on Friday after she dumped him and refused his prom invite, witnesses revealed today.

According to the NY Daily News, the suspect confronted the victim, Maren Sanchez, in their school at around 7:15 this morning. Students who saw the ordeal say he shoved the teen girl down the stairs before turning even more violent.

After first attempting to choke her, cops confirm that the boy reportedly pulled out a kitchen knife he had brought from home and stabbed Sanchez in the neck. One teen told the Daily News that there were other students in the hallway at the time. "She was screaming," the unidentified teen told the publication of Sanchez. "The kids who saw it are all a wreck."

Emergency responders found the bleeding teen in the stairwell and rushed her to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The school was placed on lockdown before police arrived and students and staff were dismissed at about 9 a.m.

The suspect was taken into the custody at the scene, but no charges have been filed yet. The junior prom that reportedly prompted the incident would've taken place tonight, but will be rescheduled, school officials announced.

So unbelievably awful. It's hard to believe that a teenager could be capable of such a horrific and seemingly calculated act. An innocent, young life was taken--and all over a prom refusal? It's too horrible for words. I only hope that the police find out the truth about what happened and punish the teen responsible accordingly and that school officials make sure the students who witnessed the stabbing get the proper counseling they may need. My heart goes out all of Sanchez's family and loved ones and the entire affected community.
