Baby Elaina: Mom & ex-boyfriend confess to killing daughter because she wouldn't stop crying
An Ohio woman and her ex-boyfriend finally admitted to the murder of her 18-month-old daughter yesterday in court, around three months after the young girl's remains were found in a box in a garage.
Elaina Steinfurth was reported missing in early June after her mother, Angela, told her estranged husband she could not find the little girl. The report set off a massive, three month-long search in the area. In September, authorities found a body in a box in the home of Angela's now ex-boyfriend, 24-year-old Steven King II. DNA testing confirmed that the skeletal remains were that of Baby Elaina's.
The former couple have now pled guilty and revealed the real story behind the murder…and the truth is more horrifying than you can imagine.

Though Steinfurth did not make a statement at the hearing, prosecutors revealed that the mom of two became frustrated with Elaina after she wouldn't stop crying and threw her across a room, causing severe injuries. The next day, Steinfurth realized that the toddler wasn't breathing well, but didn't report the injuries for fear of getting her other daughter taken away. According to authorities, that's when King smothered the baby to death.
King has now been charged with aggravated murder and abuse of a corpse, among other crimes, and will serve at least 24 years before he is eligible for parole. Meanwhile, Steinfurth will serve at least 18 years.
Words can't express how absolutely horrified I am by what happened to defenseless little Elaina. I don't understand how anyone, especially the child's own mother, can so brutally hurt such a beautiful, innocent, young kid. I can't even begin to imagine how heartbroken Elaina's family must be, particularly her dad, who trusted his former wife to take care of their daughter and ended up losing her. I'm just glad that both kids are out of this horrible woman's grasp and that both Steinfurth and King are now behind bars.
