Chiquis to Jenni Rivera at funeral: "Now you know, for SURE, how much I truly love you" (VIDEO)
It's so hard to say good-bye to a mother! It must be even more difficult when there were unresolved issues, like what Janney "Chiquis" Marin is going through right now with the passing of her mother, Diva de la Banda Jenni Rivera. That's why I was so struck by the words the young enterpreneur and daughter to the singer said during the public memorial service that the family organized to say goodbye to their beloved Jenni in Los Angeles.
"Mom, I know you are here with me. I miss you so much…Now you know, FOR SURE, how much I truly love you," Chiquis said fighting back tears.
Jenni and her daughter had been fighting for months in a very public, very painful dispute for reasons that were never really clear to the public, but were rumored to center around Chiquis' reported romantic ties to Jenni's soon-to-be ex-husband at the time of her death, Esteban Loaiza (their divorce papers had not been finalized yet, but had been submitted by the singer a few days after their second anniversary in October).
"There isn't--and never will be--enough words to say good-bye to my mother," said Chiquis when she began speaking at the Diva de la Banda's memorial. But she recalled one conversation with her mom where Jenni asked her what word she'd use to describe her, and her daughter answered, "Unbreakable... and, as my mom would say: 'Es neta' (a Mexican slang that means 'That's true')."

Her words showed a well-raised woman, at peace with her conscience and with a deep love for her mom. "I'm proud of being the product of the strongest woman I've ever known," she said.
People nearest to the family have always said that Jenni was an amazing mother to all her five children, but that she was particularly protective of Chiquis, who was sexually abused as a child by her own father, Jose Trinidad Marin. Jenni brought him to justice and didn't rest until she saw him behind bars--she even testified against him at his trial, where he was sentenced to 30 years in jail.
As the oldest, 27-year-old Chiquis, was the one who lived through the most intense and hard times for her mom, during which they had to rely on food stamps for food. Jenni had Chiquis when she was only 16 years old and their relationship was really tight.
We hope with all our hearts that they were able to talk and fix their problems before Jenni's untimely death, although by Chiquis' words, it seems that her conscience was completely at peace.
Our condolences go out to the entire Rivera clan.
