Sandy Hook principal's heartbreaking letter to daughter will make you cry (VIDEO)
The world is still heartbroken from the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting that took place in Connecticut last weekend, but none more than all those who lost a loved one on that tragic day. Erica Lafferty, the daughter of principal Dawn Hochsprung--who was killed after attempting to confront the shooter and has since been recognized as one of the heroes of Newtown—says she is still coming to terms with her loss.
I can't even imagine what she must be going through, especially because Hochsprung was such a caring, loving mom by Lafferty's accounts and as evidenced by an old letter she shared that has since gone viral. Written by Hochsprung to Lafferty, the "just because" note is so sweet that reading it brought tears to my eyes.

The 27-year-old discovered the note while looking through old photographs and said it was just one of several letters that her mom used to write for no other reason than to express her love. Lafferty read the letter on the Today show, which read:
Today I stopped and thought what a wonderful daughter I have. And I thought I'd tell you. My Erica, you are and forever will be my sweet baby girl. You possess a piece of my heart and soul and I will never be complete without you. Remember this in your darkest times. You are never alone. Your Mom. Be safe, be well, be happy. No one deserves it more!'
Doesn't that just break your heart? Though Lafferty is lucky to have had such an obviously amazing mother, I know that it must also make it that much more difficult to lose her. I just hope that she can find even the slightest comfort in the truth of her mom's words: she is not alone. The whole country is mourning Hochsprung along with her and her life story--from her devotion to her work to the brave actions that led to her death--will always be remembered. My prayers and thoughts go out to Lafferty and her family.
