Witness accuses George Zimmerman of child molestation

George Zimmerman's case has had some shocking twists recently. First, the former neighborhood watch volunteer, who is facing charges for shooting 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, asked for a new judge on Friday after claiming his current one is biased. And now, newly released evidence includes a police interview with a woman identified as Witness #9 who accuses Zimmerman of sexually abusing her as a child.

The interview, along with hundreds of Zimmerman's phone calls recorded while in jail, were released to the public this morning. In the recording, the woman says that the alleged sexual assaults began when she was 6 years old and she and her sister went to stay with Zimmerman, then 8, and his family.

She alleges Zimmerman assaulted her numerous times, groping her with his hands, kissing her, and touching her inappropriately. The woman, who has not been identified, also says that this went on until she was 16 years old and that she had never told anyone before out of fear for what might happen.

The new evidence comes weeks after  O'Mara filed a motion to disqualify Judge Kenneth Lester from presiding over the case. The motion claims that Zimmerman is afraid he will not be given a fair trial, since earlier this month, Lester said Zimmerman had "flaunted the system" by failing to disclose the truth about his financial status. Lester, who was appointed in April, is already the second to rule over the trial since Zimmerman claimed a potential conflict of interest with the original judge.

I am personally shocked and sickened by this news and would be had it been anybody, not just Zimmerman. Still, I wonder how it will affect the future trial and whether this will be even deemed relevant to the case at hand. One thing's for sure--regardless of whether this woman's claim is true or not, Zimmerman has hidden significant information in the case and has somehow managed to still get released on bail. I think that's enough proof that he doesn't any more leniency.
