Why was Michelle Obama's life threatened by a DC police officer?

I will admit that I am a big fan of Barack and Michelle Obama both as officials and parents. That's why I was totally shocked when I heard that a DC police officer is being investigated after he allegedly threatened to shoot Michelle Obama!

Apparently, the officer who worked as a motorcycle escort for White House officials was overheard making threatening comments towards the First Lady and even using his phone to display a picture of the gun that he was planning to use. Now, the officer, who remains unnamed, has been moved to administrative duty and the Metropolitan Police Department is conducting a closer examination into the case.

Wow, that must be terrifying! Though I know there are obvious risks to being in the White House, I still can't imagine how it must feel to know that supposedly trusted employees could be conspiring against you. what makes the whole story even harder for me to wrap my head around, if it's true, is that Obama is a mother of two! I know most think of her as only the First Lady and an internationally renowned figure (which she is), but the truth is she is also a parent to two young girls.  What kind of person—especially a governmental employee!—would plot to separate a beloved mom from her kids?

I hope the agency is taking even more precautions than usual now to ensure that everyone at the White House stays safe and protected throughout the duration of the investigation.

That any sort of thing like this to happen with any mother and her child is atrocious. But I see no reason why Michelle Obama's incident is news worthy over any other mothers out there. And I would respect her more as a political figure if she hadn't "surrended" her law license to avoid prosecution. I wish that more bloggers would take the time to REALLY perform their due diligence before handing over their respect so lightly, as this data is all a matter of public record and easily confirmed (as it has been in the press)
