Is cannibalism seriously a growing trend?

The only thing that could possibly be more horrifying than the recent tragedy in which a Miami man, high on a new synthetic drug called "bath salts", ate a large portion of another's man's face is news that this is not an isolated incident at all. A 21-year-old college student living near Baltimore has just admitted to the police that he ate his victim's heart and part of his brain, then hid the remains in his parent's basement. Well, if you weren't crazy disgusted already by this whole "zombie apocalypse" thing, then I bet that you really are now. I know I am.

The newest cannibal news comes after Alexander Kinyua's father, Anthony, called detectives to report that another son, Jarrod, "found what he thought were human remains in the house where they all live," according to KSTP TV. Jarrod had apparently found two tins, one with a human head and another with human hands.

Meanwhile, there's a cannibal from Canada who may now be a fugitive in London. Police believe that 29-year-old Luka Rocco Magnotta, a gay porn star turned suspected cannibal killer, has fled to England. What is going on here?! It seems like the world has now officially gone mad, kind of laughing (and preparing) for the zombie apocalypse—all the while more cannibalism attacks are happening.

Not everyone is preparing for the zombie apocalypse, though, as the mom of cannibal Rudy Eugene defends him, saying that "he was no zombie" and "a good kid." But with more and more people getting high on the so-called "bath salts" drug, will more of these attacks keep coming? I really hope not because, zombie apocalypse aside, cannibalism should absolutely NOT be on the rise.
