Kirk Cameron proves that religion isn't always right
I really believe that there's no place on our planet for intolerance. Whoever is still not convinced that people should be free to be who they want to be and love whom they want to love has some serious issues. So please go see a shrink, take a pill or stay in your home--the world has no more room for homophobes.
If there is a God--and I'm a firm believer that there is--he wouldn't reject anyone due to their sexual preferences. It makes no sense! Where are the values of tolerance and compassion? Isn't that a big part of what God stands for?
I am outraged with the people that have been spreading hatred, like Limbaugh, the extreme right wing with their war on women, and just yesterday, Kirk Cameron.
What are these people thinking? More importantly: What are they teaching their kids?
I don't want Juliana and Diego to have friends who are taught that homosexuality is evil.
The only law we're lacking is the one that punishes intolerant people like Limbaugh and Cameron, because it is due to such intolerance that gay kids are committing suicide and hate crimes against Latinos are on the rise.
What does any of this has to do with religion and morals? The arguments have become too obsolete to even quote them. There's no reason to this madness, there's nothing but stubbornness and stupidity.
I grew up with a cousin whom I love very much. He was gay from the moment he was born. He was rejected and suffered in silence for many years, but our family always embraced him and loved him for who he was. This is a fact of life: Some men like men, some women like women. Why is it so hard for others to understand it? Why do we care so much if they want to marry and spend their lives together?
Our society is raising kids in a world filled with complex issues and we should all stand together to address them. Let's take a stand against homophobia and let's take a stand against intolerance. Our kids deserve a better world, a better planet, and these extreme Christians, extreme conservative, extreme anything are NOT helping out.
What do you think about Kirk Cameron's comments about homosexuality?
