Ohio school shooting proves teachers deserve more appreciation

A school shooting incident in Ohio this morning has once again proved why teachers are basically real-life heroes. Earlier this morning, four students from Chardon High School were injured and one died after a gunman began shooting inside the school's cafeteria. And though the story is still developing, we do know that an extremely brave teacher is the one responsible for chasing the shooter out of the building.

Reports have just identified the gunman as T.J. Lane. Lane first opened fire during first period while students were eating breakfast in the cafeteria.  The teacher, whose name we don't know yet, then chased the boy out. Since then, the school has been evacuated and Lane has been put in custody.

According to CNN, a parent of children who attend the high school believes the gunman had specific targets and was not shooting randomly.

I can't even imagine what it must have been like to be in that school and to act as quickly and courageously as that teacher did! If it wasn't for him, who knows how many other kids would have been injured or killed in this horrific situation? One death is already one too many.

The incident truly brings to light the strength teachers must have to do their job. They already take on the hefty responsibility of educating kids on a daily basis. And events like this shooting only add to the difficulty and scrutiny they face in their career. As news continues to break around this story, it's important to be thankful not only for this teacher, but to also appreciate all those who devote their lives to their students.

OMG THIS IS SOO SAD AND SCARY!!! U would never imagine that u would send your kids off to school for them to be in danger or to get harmed in any way. And where are those kids parents that are taking guns to school. Why don't they talk to them to see how there doing how they feel what are there friends up too. My parents didn't really ask me much about school when i was growing up but now they see how important it is and they are much more involved with my two younger siblings. I am super close with my younger brother and I'm always asking him about school. I cant imagine how the victims families are feeling, God be with them!!

I honestly believe this person was a victim of the circustances once again.. What triggered this person to feel so outraged and to do such act? .... I am glad that this teacher was able to prevent anymore deaths...

I disagree, teachers deserve LESS appreciation. These school killings occur because teachers are letting kids bully and harass and otherwise act in bad conduct until one of the kids can't take it any more and can't control their anger. Lazy teachers creating a terrible environment are not made up for by one great teacher, so no, "teachers" do not deserve more appreciation, only a few individual people who are great but happen to be teachers too.
