Giants player slams Gisele for defense of Tom Brady

Call it the frustrated comment heard around the world: Gisele Bündchen fiercely defended husband Tom Brady with some harsh comments about his New England Patriots teammates after their loss to the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLVI on Sunday. Although I’m a Giants fan, I think Gisele’s defense of her man was completely understandable and everyone should just lay off.

But now the other team is joining the mix of Gisele-haters when Giants running back Brandon Jacobs recently told the New York Post that Gisele should just “continue to be cute and shut up.” Um, excuse me? Maybe we should be more angry about his blatantly sexist comment than Gisele’s post-game frustrated defense of her husband.

Aren’t we already blowing the whole thing a little bit out of proportion?

There’s a lot of celebrating to be done this week for New York Giants fans like myself and, well, the Tri-State area. New York pride is at its highest but we can’t be proud of this Giants player. He may have been on the winning team, but he’s the current loser in my book.

Brandon appeared on ESPN’s The Doug Gottlieb Show a day later and apologized, saying “Given the fact that it’s a colleague of mine’s wife, I do apologize for saying that, because I shouldn’t have said that.”

I think the real problem is that he thought saying something like was OK in the first place. It’s one thing to defend your spouse and be criticized for it but it’s a whole other problem if we’re telling pretty girls that they aren’t allowed to have opinions. Perhaps football players should be the ones to keep quiet, or at least think a little more before degrading women and Latina wives as a whole.

What do you think of Brandon Jacobs’s response to Gisele’s defense of Tom Brady?
